Are you feeling a little off the beaten path this morning? Maybe several seemingly small missteps have gotten you off-course and you’re racking your brain trying to figure out what happened. How did I get here? Everything was moving forward and now this?
“Your road led through the sea, Your pathway through the mighty waters — a pathway no one knew was there!” Psalm 77:19 NLT
Maybe you’ve been working really hard at something and once again you’ve hit a major setback. Maybe you’re beginning to wonder if you should just give up and quit.
Or maybe you’ve even had this thought; I must be fighting against God himself! Have you ever felt like God was playing a cruel joke… on you? Or have you ever actually asked him; What kind of game are you playing…. Help me out here!
I promise you’re not alone. I have thought it all – and then some…. #?!
Can you imagine for just a minute what the Israelites must have been thinking when God led them out of slavery from Egypt! How elated they must have felt! Oh, the shouts of praise that probably could have been heard all the way over here – by whoever was here back then! LOL.
They were probably walking along just having a grand old time. If it were today, they would be texting all their friends, sending snap chats, taking selfies with Moses and Aaron, and probably even taking a big group selfie with the outline of all the Egyptian Pyramids in the background. For sure, it would have gone viral, right? 🙂
By the next day, all the awesomeness of the miracle God did the day before has now worn off and all the kids are asking…. When are we gonna get there. Their feet are hurting from walking; and if it were today, all the cell phones and extra battery chargers would be dead. And, of course there’s no more wifi or cell service. Everyone is getting really hungry and then someone looks up ahead and spots off in the distance…. The Red Sea! That did it! Now their “hangry”!
Are you facing a Red Sea today and feeling a little hangry?
By the way… if you don’t know what “hangry” means, It means you’re both hungry and angry at the same time. If this is the first time you’ve heard this word, it just means you don’t have a teenager around to keep you up on the new cool words they’re learning on the street… I mean in English class. LOL.
Anyway, This was me last week!!! I had made several business plans and was looking forward to getting a lot of work done. Well, Monday I got a nail in my tire, and it went down hill from there. Tuesday… I took a little trip to the emergency room for an unexplained fainting spell. I won’t bore you with all the details but by Thursday, I was feeling a little bit HANGRY over all my week’s plans going south!
As I sat on my couch, I began to wonder if I should just give up. Like, really, why should I keep trying when all I do is wake up week after week facing one problem after another. Have you had these thoughts when facing something really hard in your life?
I think I dozed off for a while and then woke up to find a brand new email message in my inbox. It was an inquiry to speak at an upcoming women’s event!
As the tears streamed down my cheeks, I sent a picture of that email to my husband. I don’t normally get that worked up over speaking requests. But, in that moment, it was like God was reminding me that no matter how big my Red Sea seemed, He had a pathway in mind that I never knew was there!
What Red Sea are you facing this week? Is there a Red Sea in your career path? Is there a Red Sea in your marriage? Is there a Red Sea in your health? Is there a Red Sea in your finances? It says in Psalm 77:19 “Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters –a pathway no one knew was there!”
Our God is a God who can make a pathway right straight through the seas that you’re facing! He doesn’t need bridges! He doesn’t need boats! He doesn’t need airplanes!
So, no matter what the Red Sea is that you’re facing this week, remember God may be planning to use a pathway you didn’t know was there!
